Meet SAGES' Learning Partner is a special monthly segment showcasing the valuable people, businesses, and groups who contribute to the success of our school. For May, we wish to recognize a role model who has truly become a part of the SAGES’ Family — Douglas Plier!

Mr. Plier is a lawyer, outdoorsman, chess master, musician, poet, and husband of Mrs. Plier, SAGES’ 4/5/6 Language Arts Teacher/Reading Specialist. He has shared his passion for the game of chess with many learners. Under his direction as coach of the SAGES’ chess team for the last four years, our team has placed in the top three places for 4 tournament years in a row.  Mr. Plier has been an active member of our annual upper grade fall camp at Marsh Haven Nature Center for four years as well. He has spent the night as a chaperone, taught about the night sky, and taught chess at camp. Mr. Plier has also generously supported our SAGES’ Foundation by sponsoring a golf hole each year and donating to special projects as needed. This year, Mr. Plier is helping to sponsor the 4th - 6th grade end-of-year field study trip to the Cave of the Mounds.

Mr. Plier, thank you for imparting your knowledge and enthusiasm for life with our learners!
