SAGES celebrating Earth Week April 22-26

SAGES, the School for Agriculture and Environmental Studies, is celebrating Earth Week with planned visits to the school forest. SAGES students have worked all year to develop the forest trails and they are excited to share their knowledge with visitors from other schools.

Invited schools from the Waupun and Fox Lake area include St. John's Lutheran of Fox Lake, Central Wisconsin Christian, Rock River Intermediate, Meadow View Primary, 4K students from Wee Care, Alto and Waupun Preschool Education. Students will have the option to plant a conifer and take a plant home, explore a small marsh and shelters made of natural materials, spread wood chips, identify spring forest flowers, and hike the "Lake" and "Delborn" Loop sites of natural interest.

Bussing and other necessities for this event are provided by SAGES PTO, SAGES Foundation, and Farmers State Bank.

SAGES is a charter elementary school in the Waupun Area School District. It is Wisconsin's first charter elementary school with a focus on agricultural and environmental curriculum, and offers students Project-Based Learning, an instructional approach built upon authentic learning activities that engage student interest and motivation. The school runs Kindergarten through 6th grade. Additionally, the students enjoy frequent educational excursions to the nearby school forest.

Charter school open enrollment  for the 2013-2014 school year continues through Tuesday, April 30.
