I went to UW-whitewater for my Bachelor in Science of education. My first year of SAGES will be starting my 20th year of teaching. I have always taught kindergarten. I grew up in the small town of North Lake.
I am very passionate about the environment and living my life as sustainably as possible. I grew up with my family doing a big vegetable garden with my aunt and uncle. I have always enjoyed gardening both of vegetables and flowers. I look forward to spring every year when my flower beds come alive and I get to start plotting out my own vegetable garden. I am a tomato fanatic. I plant between 15-20 plants a year..and yes I do either can them or freeze them. I always try to use organic gardening measures whenever possible. My newest love of gardening is using heirloom seeds.
A few years ago I made the decision to live my life as sustainably as possible. I compost. I have replaced all the light bulbs in my house. I am able to recycle items at Whole Foods in Madison that typically are not recycled in our area. I even try to reduce the number of paper towels I use in my house by using rags instead. I use only environmentally friendly detergents and soaps.
Other things I love to do include spending time with my nephew Ryan and niece Molly. They are two of the most important people in the world to me. I love being an auntie!! I also love to read with Karen Kingsbury as my favorite author. I am also a crafter. I love working on any type of craft and learning new ones like most recently, basket weaving. I especially love scrapbooking.
