Title IX is a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination (including sexual harassment) in a school district’s education programs, activities, and operations. It is one of the many anti-discrimination laws that apply to school districts and one of several such laws that prohibit sexual harassment.

Title I

Title I of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSE/ESEA) is a federal funding program designed to close achievement gaps and ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education. Part A, the largest part of the program, allocates funding to districts and other local educational agencies (LEAs) according to a formula based on numbers/percentages of children from low-income families. Title II

• improving school conditions for learning to ensure safe and healthy students, and

Title II

Academic Standards 2023-24 School Year - Annual Declaration and Parent Notice of the District's Student Academic Standards pursuant to state statutes 120.12(13) and 118.30(1g)(a)1.

School boards are required by section 120.12(13) of the state statutes to notify the parents/guardians enrolled in the school district of the student academic standards that will be in effect for the school year. Boards must provide this notification annually, prior to the beginning of the school term. This notice may be provided electronically, including by posting the notice or a link to the specific academic standards on the school district’s website. Also, the school board must annually include an item on the agenda of the first school board meeting of the school year (the first board meeting after July 1) that clearly identifies the student academic standards adopted by the board under section 118.30(1g)(a)1 of the state statutes that will be in effect for the school year.

According to State Statute, the Waupun Area School District is required to notify parents of the educational options available to children who reside in the resident school district. This statute also requires notification of the school’s accountability report. Notice of School Board Election - April 2, 2024

An election is to be held in the School District of Waupun, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The following offices are to be elected to succeed the present incumbents listed. 

The term of office for school board member is three years beginning on Monday, April 22, 2024. A description of the school district boundaries can be obtained from the school district office.

A Campaign Registration Statement and a Declaration of Candidacy, must be filed no later than 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, in the office of the school district clerk.

If a primary is necessary, the primary will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

Acceptable Photo ID will be required to vote at this election.  If you do not have a photo ID you may obtain a free ID for voting from the Division of Motor Vehicles.

Notice of Nondiscrimination

It is the policy of the Waupun Area School District that no person may be denied admission to any public school in this district or be denied participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be discriminated against in any curricular and extracurricular activities, pupil service, recreational, or any other program or activity on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, sex, (including transgender status, change of sex or gender identity) or physical, mental, emotional or learning disability, any other characteristic protected by law in any of its students programs, activities, and employment (“Protected Classes”) as required by § 118.13, Wisconsin Statutes. The Waupun Area School District policy is in compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations prohibiting unlawful discrimination and harassment as defined by (Title IX , 34 C.F.R 106.9, Section 504, 34 C.F.R 104.8, Title II, 28 C.F.R. 35.106) Policy 411 for students and Policy 511 for staff. The District does not tolerate harassment of any kind, including harassment based on sex, in any of its educational programs or activities as required by Title IX and its regulations. The District’s educational programs or activities include employment with the District. Individuals will not be retaliated against for filing a discrimination or harassment complaint, and may file a complaint if s/he believes s/he has been retaliated against.

A formal complaint resolution procedure is available, however, to address allegations of violations of Board Policy 411 in the Waupun Area School District, or any questions concerning Board Policy 411 should be directed to:

Public Notification of Student Nondiscrimination Policy

February 2023

The Waupun Area School District prohibits all forms of unlawful discrimination against students and other persons in all aspects of the District’s programs and operations. Accordingly, consistent with section 118.13 of the state statutes, no person shall unlawfully be discriminated against in any curricular, extracurricular, pupil service, recreational or other program or activity because of the person's sex, sexual orientation, race, national origin, ancestry, religion, creed, pregnancy, marital or parental status, or physical, any mental, emotional or learning disability, or any other legally-protected status or classification.

The District likewise requires and enforces nondiscrimination in a manner consistent with the rights and obligations established under all applicable federal civil rights laws, including the current provisions of Titles IV and VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (race, color, religion, sex, or national origin), Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (sex), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (disability), the Americans with Disabilities Act (including Title II of the ADA, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in state and local government services), the Age Discrimination Act (age), and the civil rights provisions associated with the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and the District’s participation in federal meal programs.

The District’s commitment to nondiscrimination and to responding appropriately to any report, allegation, or confirmed incident of unlawful discrimination against any student is further addressed in the School Board’s policies, including but not limited to Board Policy 113, Board Policy 411, and Board Policy 411.1.

Notice of Directory Data

The Waupun Area School District, pursuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and §118.125 (1) (b) (j) (1 and 2), has designated the following as Directory Data Information as provided in said Act and Statute: a student's name; date and place of birth; photograph; major field of study; participation in officially-recognized activities and sports; height and weight, if a member of an athletic team; date of graduation; or awards received.

Any parent, guardian, or eligible student (18 years of age or older) may inform the district of completing the district’s Request to Withhold Directory Data Information form, obtained from the school offices, of his/her desire that all or any part of the directory information may not be disclosed without the parent, guardian, or eligible student’s consent, provided that such notification is given to the district within fourteen (14) days of the annual publication of a Class I Notice regarding Directory Data Information. Any previous notices on file with the Waupun Area School District to withhold the disclosing of directory information are VOID with the publication of the annual notice. Requests to withhold Directory Data Information must be renewed annually.
